Centre for Chemical Sciences
Centre for Chemical Sciences (CCS) was established in 2015. The main motto of the Centre is to conduct research on Chemistry for setting newer trends in Sustainable Environment and Health. The Centre has an expertise in the area of Biophysical & Bioinorganic Chemistry, Green & Sustainable Chemistry, Nano-Chemistry and its application in health, Renewable Energy including water splitting/hydrogen storage, Environmental and Supramolecular Chemistry. Currently the Centre has highly qualified faculties and achieved research grants from funding agencies like DST, UGC and BARC..

- Bioinorganic and Biophysical Chemistry
- Kinetics, Thermodynamics, Functional, and Structural Studies of Metalloproteins and Enzymes
- Green Chemistry and Catalysis
- Development of novel and benign routes for the synthesis of commercially and biologically important molecules utilizing various tools of Green Chemistry such as Ionic Liquids, Microwave-Assisted Organic synthesis, Multicomponent reactions, C-H bond activation/functionalization strategies, value addition of renewable precursors etc.
- Inorganic Nanomaterial Chemistry
- Developmental strategies for the rational synthesis of new metal semiconductor multifunctional nanomaterials including size regime. These nanomaterials can be used in new technologies with the potential to address critical social needs such as better tools for disease diagnosis and treatment and platforms for sustainable energy.
- Organometallic Chemistry
- The center also focuses in the field of metal hydrides and their applications in hydrogenation, hydrogen storage, H2 evolution with solar energy, water splitting, etc., besides synthesis of novel boranes, metallaboranes, and metallaheterobroanes.
- Environmental and Supramolecular Chemistry
- Local environmental issues through innovative research in the field of environmental monitoring, drinking water treatment technologies and designing of novel chemosensors for environmental organic analytes.
